Nichole M. Baer is an associate of the firm. She received her B.A. from Pennsylvania State University and her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law located in Gulfport, Florida. Nichole previously interned with Bay Area Legal, Family Law Department in Tampa, Florida as well as serving as an Appellate Intern for the Honorable Amy Williams in Florida’s 6th Judicial Circuit. Nichole worked as an associate for a small firm in Willow Street prior to moving to Appel & Yost in the Spring of 2014. Nichole’s practice focuses on business transactions, real estate, like-kind exchanges (1031), taxation, estate administration, and estate planning. William J. Cassidy, Jr. is a partner of Appel & Yost LLP. Raymond Andrew Durkin, Jr. joined the firm as an associate attorney in 2018.  Ray received his B.A. from Dickinson College in 2015, where he graduated cum laude with a dual major in International Business & Management and Spanish.  He received his joint J.D./M.B.A. from the Villanova University School of Law in 2018, where he was the recipient of the Daniel F. O'Dea Fellowship Award for Excellence and Professionalism in Legal Research.  He serves on both the Board of Directors and the Development Committee of the Arch Street Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the recovery of adults living with serious mental illness.

Robert W. Hallinger is a partner of the firm. He joined the firm in 2000 after practicing for seventeen years in Lancaster and York, Pennsylvania. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Gettysburg College where he received his B.A., summa cum laude, in 1979. He received his J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1982. Mr. Hallinger has a varied civil practice background, with substantial experience in trial litigation and tax assessment appeals.  He is also a AAA-trained mediator, and provides such services to parties seeking alternative dispute resolution in civil matters.

Mark L. James is of counsel to the firm. Mark has practiced law in Lancaster County since 1990, having been a named partner in no fewer than five separate law firms. He received his B.A. from Grove City College in 1974, his M.B.A. from Michigan State in 1975, his law degree from Regent University School of Law in 1989 (where he was a member of Regent's first graduating class), and his LL.M. in taxation from William & Mary in 1990. Mark is a member of the Christian Legal Society. Mark served as a trustee for Regent University from 2000-2006, and he was an adjunct professor at Regent from 2005-2010. Mark is a prolific author, having authored or co-authored a series of books on estate planning including Wills, Trusts and Your Estate Plan, Estate Planning Success for Women, Estate Planning Success for Business Owners, The Christian Guide to Wills, Living Trusts and Estate Planning and Estate Planning Success for Pennsylvania Residents. Mark is actively involved with the Lancaster County Community Foundation, among other local charitable endeavors. Mark concentrates his practice in estate planning and administration, with a particular emphasis on tax, as well as the purchase and sale of business organizations.

Jeffrey P. Ouellet is a partner of the firm. He initially joined the firm in 2015 after practicing for 18 years in Lancaster, Harrisburg and Philadelphia. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Virginia Tech where he received his B.A., summa cum laude, in 1994. He received his J.D. from the Washington & Lee School of Law in 1997, where he was named by the faculty as a Burks Scholar and he was a published member of the Law Review. Jeff has been a member of the Lancaster Bar Association board of Directors since 2008, and in 2015 he served as the President of the Bar Assocation. Jeff serves on the Board of Directors for both the Red Rose Transit Authority and the South Central Transit Authority, as well as being an active member of the Lancaster Chamber of Commerce where he serves on the Advocacy and Labor Relations Committees. Jeff is a co-author of Wills, Trusts and Your Estate Plan as well as Estate Planning Success for Women. In 2015, Susquehanna Style Magazine surveyed attorneys in Lancaster County and Jeff was named a Select Lawyer by his peers in the areas of Estate Planning/Administration/Probate Law, Business/Commercial Law, Employment Law, Employment Discrimination Law, Unemployment Compensation and Worker's Compensation Law. Elaine G. Ugolnik is a partner of Appel & Yost LLP. She initially joined the firm as an associate attorney in 1991 after working as a judicial clerk for Judge Wayne G. Hummer of the Lancaster County Court of Common Pleas and after serving as an Assistant Public Defender.
